Intellectual Property

CMI actively guards its intellectual property through patent and trade secret protection. CMI is the exclusive licensee of numerous patents and patents-pending which stem from research conducted at the University of Virginia in the field of cellular materials. Well versed in patent filing and protection, CMI can assure its customers that all its developments and inventions will be protected by patenting when appropriate. CMI takes every effort to protect its technology by having all employees, subcontractors and consultants sign contracts that include both assignment clauses and non-disclosure agreements. Such precautions protect CMI from trade secret disclosure and protect its interest in ownership of new inventions and ideas. Bryan Wright of Williams Mullen provides counsel to CMI on intellectual property matters.
